- Updated: December 10, 2013
KENT – The Seattle University men’s basketball team will take its show on the road just south of Seattle for the third annual ShoWare College Classic Presented by Monster Energy Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 at the ShoWare Center in Kent.
The Seattle U Redhawks will face Norfolk State of Virginia in a non-league matchup at the ShoWare Center. Norfolk State plays in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and is 8-3 on the season. The Spartans two years ago beat Missouri in the first round of the NCAA Tournament as a 15 seed. Last year, Norfolk State fell to Virginia in the opening round of the NIT.
Seattle University, which plays in the Western Athletic Conference, is 1-1 in games at the ShoWare Center having beaten Evergreen State two years ago before losing on an overtime buzzer-beater to Cal Bakersfield last year.
Seattle U features a team with plenty of local flavor. Leading scorer Isiah Umipig played at Federal Way High School while Clarence Trent, another starter, played at Gig Harbor High School. Seattle University is a preseason pick to finish second in the WAC Conference this season.
Tipoff for the game is set for 7:00 at the ShoWare Center. Tickets are available the day of the game or by calling the ShoWare Center at 253.856.6777.
Tickets are $10 for general admission, $17 for resvered, $25 for courtside and $30 for a reserved seat and pre-game buffet dinner.
